Members candidly discussed the challenge of distinguishing menopause-related hot flashes from fibromyalgia-induced sweating, with many admitting they found it nearly impossible to tell the difference or simply stopped trying to separate the two. Several members shared practical remedies that helped reduce their symptoms, including black cohosh supplements for hot flashes, vitamin D supplementation (ranging from 400 to 5,000 IU daily) for sweating and hair loss, and noting that some found their hot flashes improved significantly after addressing vitamin D deficiency. A recurring theme was the overlap of symptoms, the frustration of unanswered questions from doctors, and the shared relief in finding simple, accessible solutions that worked even when the root cause remained unclear.

My DR had put me on Vitamin D because my labs showed I was deficient in it. They think it may be what is causing my hair loss. So I started taking 5,000 IU of D3 daily back in December. My hair has stopped falling out and my hot flashes have majorly decreased. I used to get a hot flash every 5 minutes....literally! Now I get a few a day. Way more manageable. I definitely recommend adding vitamin D3 to the diet if you are dealing with hot flashes, sweating, hair loss.

For me, hot flashes only lasted about 10 minutes,at a time. With fibro, the heat & sweating lasts several hours, at a time.
