Members responding to the question about painful legs that feel too weak to hold you up shared that this is a well-known symptom of fibromyalgia, with many describing deep bone pain, muscle heaviness, numbness from neuropathy, and difficulty standing or climbing stairs. Several members offered practical tips including using a cane or walker for balance and safety, trying aquatic therapy, taking vitamins, and asking doctors about alpha lipoic acid or acupuncture for neuropathy relief. A recurring theme was encouragement to keep moving as much as possible, track triggers like stress, and lean on community support to get through the hard days.

Yes. I tell my husband I’m having a ‘lead legs’ day. Ask yourself what have I done in the last few days, have I had any stress? Then work out what might have caused it and write it down. Now you’re on the other side of whatever caused it you can say to yourself, that wasn’t a bad as I thought. Or I don’t know what I got stressed about. If someone’s been nasty to you, imagine looking them in the eye and say ‘I forgive you’ Those words can lift a weight off your shoulders it stops you replaying it all in your head. I basically push on. It’s a case of Use it or lose it. I was told I was heading for a wheelchair when I first got my crutches. I thought to myself ‘not on your Nelly’ I’m still on crutches but need new knees so just waiting for that to happen. Not looking forward to the extra pain and possible flare up. But if you can walk keep going as much as you can. It’s an awful feeling when the heaviness comes you feel like someone’s lagged your legs with sandbags. I wish you luck and pain free days.

Yes I was diagnosed over 40 yrs ago and it has gotten to the point that I can hardly walk anymore. I have neuropathy in both feet so they are very numb 24/7. I am afraid I may be headed to a wheelchair soon.

My legs are worse in the evenings - a gnawing pain deep in the bone and pain in the muscles - usually extends to my ankles too - is that similar? X
