No I haven’t. I’m a therapist myself, so I have been able to help myself with the assistance of my colleagues.

Have you been referred to a psychiatrist for poor sleep, anxiety, and depression related to fibromyalgia?

Yes, many people with fibromyalgia are referred to mental health professionals for these symptoms. About 20 percent of people with fibromyalgia also have depression or an anxiety disorder, and these conditions are commonly addressed alongside physical symptoms.

Your healthcare provider can work together with mental health professionals, such as psychiatrists or psychologists, to help manage both your mental and physical health. Treating depression and anxiety with medication, therapy, or both may actually help improve your physical fibromyalgia symptoms too.

Why referrals happen:

- Sleep problems, anxiety, and depression are common with fibromyalgia
- These symptoms can create a cycle that makes pain and fatigue worse
- Professional mental health support provides ongoing help as your needs change over time

If you're struggling with these symptoms, talking to your rheumatology or primary care provider about a referral is a good step. There's less stigma around seeking mental health care now, and it's an important part of managing fibromyalgia overall.

Yep! What a joke! It's probably different where you live... If you've been offered an ap go. Its good to be able to speak to someone who is not family not a friend and not someone who thinks fibro isn't real.
Because we all love to be in pain have the flu wake up as if we'd been out all night drinking shots. And then run over by a bus ... Take the offer
