Members connected over the challenging experience of shortness of breath, sweating, and temperature dysregulation with fibromyalgia, with many describing similar symptoms including dizziness, nausea, and feeling cold after overheating. Several members shared helpful insights, including the possibility of medication side effects like Tramadol causing breathing issues, dysautonomia as an underlying cause that a neurologist can evaluate, and neurally mediated hypotension being misdiagnosed as panic or anxiety. A recurring theme was the profound struggle of managing unpredictable flares, the emotional toll of feeling trapped by symptoms, and the importance of persistence and self-compassion while searching for relief.

I think the shortness of breath comes from panic and fatigue as my knees go prickly and my body try to deal with all the different symptoms . I had remissions before in the past . I wasn’t on any meds just one day it all suddenly disappeared then it suddenly all came back worse . It’s turned me into a paranoid panic agoraphobic person. I’m trying so hard to reverse it by eating and drinking healthy and riding my elliptical machine but unfortunately it’s just not seeming to go away this time around and it’s now been 16 months of crap 💩 but I’m fighting still .

Hey @A MyFibroTeam Member, yes, very unpleasant symptoms. My neuro has linked these to Dysautonomia. Have you talked to your neuro about Dysautonomia?

'Panic Attacks' or 'Anxiety' are deliberate mis-nomers for "NMH" = Neurally Mediated Hypotension... might check this Dysregulation out to be able to avoid most of the time.

I have trouble controlling my temperature all of the time unfortunately 😕
When I have a hot flush it makes me feel sick, which then lasts for most of the day. It has affected my diet so much. When I eat, which isn't very often, I feel terrible afterwards which then puts me off eating again until I am too dizzy and have to eat.
As for being short of breath, this happens to me, but mostly when I climb the stairs 🫂
