Members shared widespread experiences of severe skin sensitivity and itching since developing fibromyalgia, with many describing dry, burning skin that reacts painfully to touch, scratching, clothing textures, and even pet licks. Several members offered practical strategies including switching to fragrance-free detergents like Tide Free or Clearalif sheets, using gentle soaps like Neutrogena, moisturizing immediately after showering, taking daily antihistamines like Zyrtec, applying cortisone or clobetasol cream to affected areas, choosing natural cotton fabrics over synthetics that contain formaldehyde, and trying cooler showers to reduce irritation. A recurring theme was the exhausting daily reality of managing constant itching alongside other fibromyalgia symptoms, with members emphasizing the importance of removing clothing tags, avoiding tight seams and rough materials, staying hydrated, and recognizing that while relief strategies help temporarily, the itching often returns as an ongoing challenge.

Itchy and sore not a good combination. I use clobetasol on the spots on my scalp.

My skin is so much more sensitive then it was before.

One of my least favorite symptoms is the burning sensation.

If I scratch my skin, that area burns up to level 6 or higher for the next 20 minutes. If my cat licks me, it burns,

So many things that touch my skin makes it burn. It sucks and I'm sorry that you have to deal with it.
