Lidocaine, Stop Pain ointment, Emu oil, and other topicals can be used, also. Be Careful not to get near your eyes. Read labels Carefully.

Moist heat helps mine quite a lot. A 1 pound bag of rice in a thick athletic sock, microwaved for several seconds, (sometimes then placed in a thin towel), for 15-20 minutes, helps.
*Caution Must be used to avoid burns, since most microwaves vary.
This works better for me, it covers the area better than a heating pad.

I had mine locked open a few times. Not fun. Heat, massage and I have a topical pain cream that helped. Don’t chew gum and be cautious about other things that require a lot of chewing.

Yes, TMJ is part of our jaw and TMJd (dysfunction) causes clicking, pain in the jaw head, and sometimes neck, sometimes my jaw even pops out of the socket and I wish that on no one. Be careful about biting into hard foods, or foods where you have to open your mouth wider to bite on. There are exercises an orthodontist can teach you to do, mouthpieces to help if you grind your teeth, there are massage techniques for your jaw, and I find applying heat helps mine. Any safe medication for taking the edge off of the pain because our pain magnifies with Fibro and getting a pillow that aligns your body and head helps a lot too. I hope this helps.
