I’m going to c my neurologist on Monday and she gave me samples of ubrelvy& nurteq. Neither, one helped. Do you think I should ask for more samples or another prescription. If I need to ask for a prescription is lyrica, something good to try.

Members shared personal experiences on whether fibromyalgia headaches and migraines are the same, with the general feeling being that they feel different and often respond to different treatments. Several members described trying newer medications like Ubrelvy and Nurtec with limited success, while finding relief through older options like Imitrex, ice packs, Botox, nerve blocks, and staying well hydrated. A recurring theme was that finding the right treatment takes time and patience, and seeing specialists like a neurologist can be an important step forward.

Oh, and don't forget some meds you might be given for fibromyalgia actually cause headaches!!! Life with fibro can be awful but never boring. πŸ˜‰ Always something new. 🀦

Did you see the neurologist?
Curious about the outcome, and hope you get some answers, dear. Did you get any new prescriptions? Hugs,

Hi Ann, I read years ago that people with migraines were at a higher risk for strokes and no I really didn't want to know! 🀣 That increase stress which raises BP which put you at even higher risk.
I remember when I was young and stupid... It's true. Ignorance IS bliss. πŸ˜‰
I blame Dr. Google.

Durring my twenties I suffered greatly with debilitating migraine like headaches and none of the migraine meds helped. The ER department sometimes gave me a shot and oxygen. The shot may have helped but then you get "marked" as wanting strong meds.
Later they gave me a non adictive shot and only sometimes did they also give oxygen.
These Fibro headaches are different.

Headaches are all awful!!
In my opinion, no, I think they're different.
While I've tried ubrelvy and nurtec (2 of the newer med) neither really helped and I had to go back to my old standby, imitrex. My migraines feel different and one of the big differences is what meds help. If I have a true migraine, OTC meds and prescription pain meds -opioids, do nothing. I really a med specifically for migraines, like the ones you mentioned and imitrex. For tension/fibro headaches I can usually use OTC meds along with ICE PACKS (my BFF, haha). But... If they're used too often you can have rebound or medication overuse headaches. And that's my dilemma. πŸ₯΄
HOWEVER, I know there's a strong correlation between fibro and migraines, so... Who knows for sure? Certainly not me, but I don't want any of them. 🀯
** there are so many meds, old and new, for migraines. You just have to find what works for you. 😘 Good luck dear. Hugs,
Deb
