Multivitamins For 40s And Chronic Health Issues
I am now in my 40s with Ulcerative Colitis with associative arthritis and Ankylosis Sponydlitis and Fibromyalgia. I relaize more then ever the importance of nutrition especially since Ulcerative Colitis and many physical activities (including the three letter one) demand so much more from the body. I find myself needing more Potassium and Magnesium after the three letter one. I find myself needing more Iron when I get cold. I take B12 and vitamin D along with a probiotic daily.
Similar with me on vitamin D for immunity and probiotic to maintain gut flora since I have Ulcerative Colitis (UC).
For energy/CFS, I used to do B12 injections myself, but its risky so I switched to the drops. But something in the B12 drops spiked headaches/migraines for me. I used Rhodiola Rosera, but the body gets used to it and stops working for me with continued use. I tried 1 brand of D-Ribose which worked well first 2 uses. After that it triggered UC flares. I think its the derivative they used, but they don’t show the derivative on the lab. I will try another brand one day which shows a derivative on the label.
All this stuff has made me realize I need a good multi for daily use. Its just hard since all the brands have different mixes, and now herbs plus whatever. Ugh! Its why I went with solo supplements in the first place.
Now the issue with Potassium is like a double edged sword. Too much is bad on the cells. Too little is bad as well. Its why I normally take it when I get Charlie horses, cramps, or after the three letter activity.
I use gentle iron for when I get cold. Same here though. Can’t take too much.
