Trouble Accepting Diagnosis
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I pray that I don't offend any person at all with this question. I've been diagnosed 2 months ago in the horrible flare up that I have totally out of the blue. Btw I'm still in that flare up of excruciating pain and exhaustion. Okay here's the question and plz don't get mad. Did any of you have issues with accepting your diagnosis because of thoughts that there's no way this could be just fibromyalgia because I hurt too bad for it to be fibromyalgia? I didn't have any knowledge at all about… read more

For me, I have found a combination of things that help to minimize my symptoms. Meds plus vitamins & throw in some cannabis. Eliminating gluten, corn and tomatoes which are all inflammation causes. Inflammation is the enemy in this battle. Once I eliminated these, my brain fog, speech problems and pain lessened. Don't get me wrong, I still get bad days, just farther apart. Feel free to ask for details.

Make sure your doctor tests you for Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis. Maybe X-ray your back.

I went thru a grieving process, it took years. I was grieving my job, social life, driving, my independence. It was a process. Who am I? That was my question 8 to 9 years into it. I finally got to acceptance, & I'm now not afraid of physical therapy & mild yoga. And it helps!!!
Good luck with your journey. We all go thru it in some way to find relief. Supplements for energy, gut health, garlic, broccoli, other anti inflammatory foods/supplements, vibrating heating pad, ice packs, Aleve, Cymbalta, lidocaine patches or roll-ons, sleep went i can get it.

I fought it and fought it. Didn't want to be this "invalid" for lack of better word. I had to retire almost 10 years ago because of my symptoms. There are days that I still have problems accepting my limits. I have to give myself permission to rest when need be. It's hard. Fibromyalgia is not for the faint of heart.
