The triple whammy. OsteroArthritist, Neurophathy, fibromyalgia all react negatively to cold rainy weather. It doesn’t happen concurrentlly, but they stack. Putting the pain in the stratosphere.
The last two winters have been brutal. Blizzards and record breaking rain fall. Since controlling the weather is impossible, how do i survive?

Members shared compassionate solidarity over managing the triple whammy of osteoarthritis, neuropathy, and fibromyalgia pain during cold and rainy weather, with many echoing the challenge of winter being one of the hardest times of the year. Several members described their go-to strategies, including layering clothing, using heating pads and infrared heat blankets, applying topical CBD or Biofreeze, taking warm Epsom salt baths, doing gentle stretching and PT exercises in bed before rising, and tracking barometric pressure on apps like AccuWeather to anticipate flare-ups. A recurring theme was the importance of preemptive self-care, movement despite the pain, staying warm to avoid getting deeply chilled, and maintaining a gratitude mindset to stay emotionally resilient through the toughest days.

I try to keep warm by using heating pads and hot water bottles and applying Voltaren gel, wearing hiking socks made for low temperatures, fingerless gloves, and multiple layers. And I try to be positive. My S.A.D. lamp helps with that as does study and reading my Bible.

We’ve had several years of cold winters too. Right now this big storm is going. I have pain in weird places when it gets stormy. I have the “infrared” heat pad that helps with cold and pain. I have a full length one that I love. Also I take extra Tylenol and CBD. Wear my legwarmers and cashmere socks! not do too much exercise etc... but make sure I’m moving around and stretching a bit. Stay inside when it’s really bad out here. I have arthritis too, so I watch the” AccuWeather” report on the Internet. It has readings for arthritis. When it’s moderate or higher, I know I have to be careful

I also share this trifecta, and this brutal wind and cold do not help. Winter was always my favorite time of year; never in my like would I have believed I would be indoors so much. We each find what seems to help us and somehow manage to get through the really bad times. One of the most effective, for me, is gratitude. I can't be grumpy if I'm being grateful. Reading, too, if I can find a really good book - and if my brain isn't sludge 😬 A lot of self care; paying attention to what does work and avoiding the triggers.
Gentle hugs 🤗

@A MyFibroTeam Member,
Sis, the wind has been so strong today and the rain is nonstop. I have been inside all day, my back and hip are still hurting.
I hope you are doing alright.
💖🤗❤️😊🌹
