Members bonded over the shared experience of having intensely vivid and sometimes frightening dreams, with several wondering if fibromyalgia, medications, stress, or disrupted sleep stages might be to blame. Many community members described practical coping strategies, including prayer, journaling or examining underlying stressors, working with therapists or psychiatrists, and recognizing that vivid dreams can be a natural way the brain processes emotions and experiences. A recurring theme was reassurance that these dreams, while unsettling, do not indicate dementia or mental decline, and that finding what works best for each individual is key to managing them.

I have very vivid dreams. The last one was yesterday before I went to my doctor appointment. I was sleeping because I got real sick on Monday afternoon, fever, chills. In my dream I was standing looking out my bedroom window and my deceased husband was standing there looking at me with a worried look on his face then there were 2 more people that I could not really see walked by him and waved him to come on. Then I felt someone sitting on my bed. I woke up and no one was there.

I also have vivid dreams. I find it difficult to sleep so am only in the dream stage of sleep, which is supposed to be when you are sleeping lightly. Personally I'm not sure why I get them, maybe it's because of the medications I take for my fibromyalgia and CFS.
I just know that they can be scary real sometimes and can be nightmares. In which case I wake up exhausted 😩

At the end of the day doctors only try and treat individual problems but have no idea unless they specialise in fybro..with or without meds,,fybro causes brain fog which affects your whole cognitive process so it’s about what works best for individual people

Yes, my dreams are crazy vivid. At times i can control aspects of my dreams but not the whole thing. I have also dreams involving being stabbed and i feel the pain for real ☹️... does anyone else get that?
I'm currently seeing a therapist and psychiatrist. My mental health though pretty messed up is actually the best its been in a while yet the dreams just keep getting crazier and crazier, super vivid and scary 😨 xx
