I have been diagnosed with benign positional vertigo about a year ago. It keeps coming back randomly. Since I was diagnosed with fibro i wax wondering is there was any correlation between them.
Persons with fibromyalgia can experience dizziness, and some reports (e.g. Rosenhall et al), find dizziness to be a very common symptom, occuring in roughly 2/3 of all persons. ABR testing, oculomotor testing (pursuit and saccades) and ENG testing have all been reported abnormal to some extent (30-60%) in fibromyalgia by Rosenhall et al. These abnormalities are nonspecific however, and do not prove that a person has fibromyalgia associated dizziness.
Hi there. I got vertigo a few years ago which the Doc gave me pills for. I'd had it on and off before that, but it would only last a day or so. On this occasion it didn't properly go away and I was relying on the pills for some months. Finally I took the long car journey required to visit a vestibular therapist as I wanted to get proper help. She was great. My reliance on the tablets and my carefulness in not moving my head freely and normally all those months, had caused me some vestibular loss and I had to do exercises for several weeks to get it back to normal. She also gave me specific exercises to do whenever I got the vertigo again. Because I get it when lying down, the exercises are done lying down. The whole experience taught me not to be afraid to move my head normally when vertigo hits and I find that now the bouts are mild and only last a few days without causing me too much trouble. The exercises are great for warding it off!
I don’t think vertigo is a fibro symptom but dizziness is. I have had both.
Yep loss of balance an impaired cognitive skills are affected some people more the others vertigo is usually connected to you inner ear meaning like moving ur head in a certain way or a ear infection ,there are 3 types of vertigo if you feel you just came off the waltzes at the fair an you obviously haven't thats the most common make ya feel sick the other 2 are associated with different types but all bring spinning around an around an affects people in different ways horrible that skinny thing its like your going the world at the speed of sound ,when effectively ur just standing up see ya doc than can give medication for it but not sure if It works or not but if helps its worth ago much love ♡
I totally agree with FayLou. I had it on 2021 and it was a horrible experience. Vestibular therapy and memorizing the exercises for home helped me a lot. My Physical Therapist told me it was related to Fibromyalgia. When I feel the vertigo is coming I just practice the exercises and I feel better. Take care! 💕
