My hip and shoulder feel bruised on the side I’m sleeping on. Is this normal for fibromyalgia? It causes me to constantly roll over all night long. I feel like my blood is pooling on my lower side. Does anyone else have this? I didn’t know obstructive sleep apnea and bruxism were related, but they are.

Members widely confirmed that waking up with pain from pressure points and constantly shifting positions throughout the night is a common experience with fibromyalgia, with many describing the sensation of joints feeling like they pop out of place or the body feeling wooden and stiff upon waking. Several members shared that adjustable beds have been life-changing purchases for managing daytime pain and repositioning without physical effort, though some noted they still sleep flat at night, and others mentioned using multiple pillows to prop themselves up with mixed success. A recurring theme was the significant toll fibromyalgia takes on sleep quality and relationships, with members describing missed activities like church, separation from sleeping partners to avoid disturbing them, and the frustrating cycle of waking every hour or two to relieve pain by repositioning.

Very much so. I have tried the multiple pillows arrangement. It is usually a hit and a miss. Hang in there. Hugs to you.

Hi, I have felt like that several times...ive now got an adjustable bed although expensive but worth it, I get into bed move it to how I want to sleep & I'm gone for the night... Best thing I've ever bought!

Same thing here. I turn over during the night and wake up feeling like I'm made of wood. I also bought an electric adjustable bed and the mattress on it is a lot more comfy than my old one. It is great for resting on during the day. Instead of shifting myself into new positions to keep the pain away, I can simply adjust the bed! At night though, I can only sleep lying down flat, on my side, so I don't use its adjustable powers then. It's been a lifesaver for daytime though, nothing else is as comfortable for easing a stiff, tired body. It may be possible to get a rebate on the bed, (or tax back) as it is useful for Fibromyalgia. I'm going to try and get a rebate soon; it was an expensive bed.

Definitely yes, more pain in am. Actually starting around 2am I wake up every hour or so and reposition my pillows and body. That's why I no longer sleep with my hubby. I would keep him awake all night long. Just another loss thanks to fibromyalgia.

Yes. Normal for me. I also feel like joints pop out of place in shoulder/ collarbone area and hips. Very painful and annoying. I try and prop myself with multiple pillows. Sometimes works sometimes doesn’t. Gentle hugs
