I have had less flare ups over the past couple years. Odd because I'm now 43 and I've dealt with this since I started my period. The worst part of the flares were my skin feeling like I was rolling in small shards of glass. To be touched or shower or loose clothing were hell! To this day without a flare for months I will still fret a shower!! Once in there I'm ok but getting there is a struggle!! Also I met someone and being touched or just held feels so foreign and although it doesn't hurt I feel a struggle mentally to 'take it as a good thing'. When will I be able to appreciate being held again? When a soft touch was a hot poker stroking my skin for so many years? Anyone else have such a disconnection with things others take for granted? I realize this is a very vulnerable topic for me and maybe others. Hopefully it helps you also for me to bring this up... I can love but can I FEEL loved without fear? True fear of physical pain from it!! Also I am not meaning in a sexual kind of way, its the cuddle and cute kind of way we interact with people we like sexually. I recognized the fear when he held me standing in the kitchen from behind me and he kissed the top of my head. My mind winced in pain but my body felt none. I struggled so hard I froze! I felt bad like a battered person waiting for a blow! Is it gonna get easier? My ex knew only to touch me a certain way and with permission. But since I'm not in as much pain that I would be a liar to say it hurts. Although it doesn't hurt physically my mind can't distinguish the difference. Anyone else have this issue in another part if their life effected by this kind of PTSD also? Thank you
