Why Do We Have Hot Flashes With Fibromyalgia?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have hot flashes and have no understanding of it. Also when the air is cold my pain will worsen, mind you when I get in my pool which is not heated the cold water gives me a pain free body.(my last swim was two weeks ago, now the pool is frozen)

I hope someone can explain.
Fibromyalgia is an alarming issue, what I mean is, the effects from the disease is off the wall.
I can only pray, some day, they will be able to say, yes you have Fibromyalgia, it a terrible disease with no cure, know we are working on it.
It is a painful degrading disease, where half the world think it’s all in our heads, while the other half just ignore our issues. Have a great New Year.

I get it too, can be freezing cold as usual but then it's like a switch has flicked and I'm melting with the heat. My GP said it's because of my age, I'm 47 but I read somewhere that with fibro it's like you have a faulty thermostat.

I assumed the hot flashes and cold flashes were from anxiety. Probably a combination. Ugh.

Hot tubs are amazing for relaxing the pain from fibromyalgia. So does massages or anything that can heat the area that hurts. Although massage chairs hurt real bad. I feel bruised all over if i use a massage chair. I will also get pain and spasms from my neck along my spine to my tailbone that feels paralyzing until spasms stop.

Thank you for the information. I will be fifty three in a few days, I have had hot flashes for years. My doctor does blood work every four months, only to tell me I am not going thru meta pause, my hot flashes are due to having Fibromyalgia.
I have been researching Fibromyalgia, also gathering information from all of you on our Fibromyalgia Team.
Thank you all for your support and kindness.
I am truly blessed to have all of you to reassure me that it’s not just in my head.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, mind was good got to visit both my boys and talked to my brothers and sisters over the phone, and went and visited my mom and Dad.
Have a Happy New Year,
Pray for peace and safe travels.
Stay safe, God Bless
