I’m so tired of being called dramatic and a hypochondriac!! My fibromyalgia was diagnosed at 21. I’m now 27 and it has gotten so much worse over the years. I used to go to the emergency room so much that workers knew exactly who I was. I’ve given up on getting new or worsening symptoms looked at. But I can’t help but feel like I’ve got some New condition that I’m gonna die from. Am I crazy? My latest flare has been since early august. Started with back pain as I was working out so intense it was… read more

Members responded with overwhelming validation to someone feeling dismissed as dramatic and hypochondriac, with the powerful refrain 'I BELIEVE YOU' echoing throughout as community members shared their own experiences of bizarre symptoms, emergency room visits, and the exhausting work of explaining invisible illness to unsympathetic employers and friends. Several members offered practical guidance, including trying foam rolling and myofascial release massage for pain management, getting checked for carpal tunnel syndrome, filing for disability benefits, and using CBD oil for relief. A recurring theme was the isolating nature of fibromyalgia's unpredictable symptoms, the frequent fear of dying from undiagnosed conditions, and the vital importance of mutual understanding within a community that truly gets it when the outside world does not.

I feel exactly the same. I had to go to a+e for the first time last year as my hip that i broke when i was 16 was hurting more than usual and found it is the fibromyalgia clashing with the arthritis that is in my hip. I hate bright lights and loud noises. The sun gives me a headache. Stress makes my pain worse and I am only 28 and been diagnosed since march 2017. It is getting worse faster than i thought it would. We are here for each other to get through this horrible condition.

Well the first thing I want to say to you is that I BELIEVE YOU. And the second thing I’m going to say to you is file for disability now. You are probably panicking because you are worried about your job on top of truly being in pain an it not being validated by your boss. I’m saying this because I have had this same problem. And had to retire on disability. Maybe you can check into this to see if it’s a possibility. Sounds like you need a break in order to take care of yourself. ALL of the problems you’ve stated that you have, I’ve experienced them also to the point of feeling like I’m crazy. I’ve even asked myself am I dying, gloomy and doomed. Sounds like panic attacks to me and maybe a form of depression. Maybe try getting a complete physical to rule out any abnormalities in your body. This way you can know whether there’s anything wrong with you. That will take away some of the worries. Believe me I get you. The whole boss thing calling you a hypochondriac that’s just wrong and He should never harass you in your workplace like that. There are laws against that. Also check that left wrist out for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. With that and a fibromyalgia diagnosis you can file for disability. Lastly I’ve read thru all of your symptoms and had the all. I am 64 years old with fibromyalgia since 1993 when they were just discovering that fibromyalgia existed and I’m still here. You are in my prayers.

My friends call me a hypochondriac. But their not true friends. I'm 65 and was diagnosed 6 years ago. I know I had this horrible disease many, many years ago. Probably at 13 after I had a brain concussion due to an automobile accident. I so feel for you, Alex, because I feel like I'm dying. Not so much because of my age, but all these aggravating symptoms make me feel that way. I gave up on emergency rooms too.

Your not going mad nor are you crazy Alex.... Fibromyalgia symptoms are beyond bizarre...i think i have worked through the dying feeling ...i used to think a was having a heart attack when my breastbone hurt so bad. You have people here that understand...but know i how hurtful and frustrating it is dealing with so called...'well people'.....its their ignorance....i often find myself staying ...'educate yourself on my condition learn how to treat people with invisible disability'.
I am sending you love and gentle hugs. Also added you to my team.

I feel your pain hun. I have swelling in my armpits, and itching that drives me nuts. Light hurts my eyes and any noise seems ten times louder than it really is. I take codydramol everyday and also take CBD OIL 6000mg 60% in a 10 ml bottle and if it wasn’t for that I wouldn’t get out of bed. Don’t let others get you down. Xx
