I've suffered with fibromyalgia for two years. Since June I've been having recurrent urges to pee all the time, it started waking me up at least 6 times per night. I got antibiotics which didn't work, then I got another treatment for urinary infeccion, it was some sort of antiinflammatories. While I was taking the treatment I could sleep a few nights without waking up, then it came back. It's been 5 days where I'm completely unable to sleep, I wake up every 1 hour with the urge to pee, so I… read more

Members strongly suspected the poster's symptoms could be interstitial cystitis, a bladder condition commonly seen alongside fibromyalgia that causes frequent, urgent, and painful urination even without infection. Several members shared medications and strategies that have helped them manage IC, including hyoscyamine for bladder spasms, keeping a food diary to identify triggers like citrus and spicy foods, and working with a urologist experienced in IC who can perform diagnostic procedures like hydrodistention. A recurring theme was the challenge of living with multiple overlapping conditions, the importance of finding doctors who listen and take pain seriously, and the value of community support in navigating symptoms that can feel isolating and confusing.

You may have interstitial cystitis. A lot of people with Fibro have this, I was diagnosed with it a couple years ago. There are medications and procedures to help this, I take medication prescribed by my obgyn. Hope this helps!

I forgot about Hyoscyamine. Glad you brought that up @A MyFibroTeam Member I keep a bottle in my purse at all time for when I eat or drink something that my bladder can't deal with it or when a cramp or spasm occurs. My urologist prescribed it for my IC.

Isabel, I was prescribed a medication called hyoscyamine for esophageal spasms. It is a smooth muscle relaxer..it relaxes the digestive tract.. well it also helps bladder symptoms and IBS!! I take it as needed... maybe ask your doctor about it? It has helped me so much. If you do try it, get the sublingual tablets(under the tongue).

The thing with fibro warriors is we have more than one illness. I have IC which accounts for my constant urination. It is where the lining of your bladder is damaged or virtually gone. It hurts but it is manageable at least for me more than fibro. I also have CFS and migraines plus others. Others have others different from me. Just one reason it is hard to dx.

IC does suck to hell and back I was diagnosed in 1999. My doctor said from looking at my records that I should have been diagnosed in 1991. But I been able to manage it if I stick to what I know works.

I am fortunate that my urologist is the best on the East coast and he is in the state so I have him. But maybe this is it? Do you have a burning sensation? Do you get cramps or spasms by your bladder or near it?

There are more symptoms but those are the ones that get me the most. I hope you don't have IC. I would wish this on NO ONE.
