Hi Guys,

I'd like to ask something. Does anyone have swelling and pain in their wrists just like arthritis but no arthritis at all? Its only a fibro symptom?

Members responded to a question about wrist pain and swelling without arthritis, with many confirming that fibromyalgia can indeed cause these symptoms, though several emphasized the importance of ruling out conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome, various types of arthritis, and other underlying issues through proper medical testing. Several members shared their personal experiences with wrist and hand pain, describing symptoms ranging from burning and aching sensations to swelling and weakness that made simple tasks like opening jars difficult, with some finding relief through heat therapy, splints, cortisone injections, or body brushing to stimulate the lymphatic system. A recurring theme was reassurance that arthritis itself is not deadly but can be debilitating, alongside encouragement to advocate for proper diagnosis and pain management while not assuming every symptom is solely fibromyalgia.

Always and especially in the hot weather. You could try body brushing which stimulates the lymphatic system to ease the swelling

Yes you can have pain in your wrists and swelling without it being Arthritis but like I said there are many different types of Arthritis.

Best to be tested for them.

Yes you can have swelling and pain in your wrists, with weakness as well not being able to pick things up or open jars and other simple tasks. From Fibromyalgia.

You would need your Rheumatologist to check for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Allodynia as well.

There are also different types of Arthritis you need to be checked for these as well.

Hope you find out what is causing the problem.

I get pain in my wrists. Sometimes it’s a burning, aching pain. I don’t notice swelling, just the pain.
