A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi everyone
This question ties in with the last one I posted on here. I ended up in the emergency room yesterday because the strange sensations in my head/temple area and headaches have been non stop for weeks. It can get very bad sometimes and is usually worse with strain or activity. I had a CT scan done and some blood work yesterday which both came back clear. For some odd reason the doctors are hesitant to order an MRI. It’s very frustrating, I wonder if there’s something an MRI would’ve… read more

Members rallied around someone experiencing persistent temple pain, pressure sensations, and headaches that weren't improving despite emergency room visits and clear CT scans, with many sharing nearly identical symptoms including pain that moves between temples, behind the eyes, across the cheeks, and at the base of the skull. Several members mentioned potential causes like occipital neuralgia and shared their own treatment attempts, including increased amitriptyline, chiropractic care, peppermint oil, and neurologist consultations, though most found only temporary relief or none at all. A recurring theme was the frustration of seeking answers from hesitant doctors, the fear of something serious being missed without an MRI, and the exhausting reality of managing invisible pain that's difficult to explain while putting on a brave face every day.

I experience that very often... I had a constant 24hrs 7 days a week headache for almost 3 weeks a couple of months ago. The pain felt concentrated in a certain part of the head (base of the skull/behind the left ear) but also moved up and down to the temple. I eventually got really worried and went to see a neurologist who at first told me it was just my anxiety and stress but seeing my worry and frustration, ordered an MRI which came back clear (thankfully). The headache just disappeared alone but it took a very long time. I still do get this strong pressure and stabbing sensation around the same areas I mentioned. I guess it's nothing to worry about, but I recommend still seeing your GP! Btw, do you also have a rash on your forehead? And sometimes back?
Sending you love and hugs xx

I’ve been having chiropractic treatment for 3 weeks, and I notice an improvement the first and second day after treatment but then the pain slowly returns. I don’t know whether it’s improving or whether I’m just getting used to the pain. My pain also goes from the front of my head to the back but is mainly in my temple, cheek and nose...it’s so weird! I also get it across my forehead on both sides. It’s also worse when I lay down. I’ve got a few things I want to try before agreeing to a scan, I have no tingling and all of the nuero tests indicate nothing serious (not that trust doctors) but will let you know if I find something that gets rid of the pain permanently. Sending you a big hug, it’s bloody crap having this invisible illness and putting on a brave front every day x

@A MyFibroTeam Member I have been experiencing the exact same thing almost daily for 2 months. Headaches on my left side, pain in my temple that sometimes goes across my cheek, into my nose, behind my eye. It even feels sore to touch and feels like pressure build up or something, it’s really hard to explain. My doctors don’t think it’s anything serious but have encouraged me to have a CT scan, which I’m refusing at this stage because I have had too much radiation exposure in my life and I have no doubt (like all my other scans) it’ll be clear and a waste of time and money. I’m hoping it passes soon, It seemed to hit me as soon as the seasons changed from summer to autumn. Hoping you get relief soon, it’s horrible x
