Members responded to someone who woke up with one hand appearing yellowish-orange, offering both supportive curiosity and practical knowledge about potential causes. Several members suggested possible explanations including high intake of carotene-rich vegetables like carrots and sweet potatoes, liver or thyroid conditions, or complications related to diabetes and advanced glycation end-products, while also asking helpful diagnostic questions about eye discoloration and accompanying symptoms. A recurring theme was encouragement to consult with a doctor for proper evaluation, with members expressing hope that it would turn out to be harmless and requesting updates after the appointment.

Yellow discoloration of the skin may be associated with carotenemia, hypothyroidism, liver disease, and renal disease. It is an uncommon finding in patients with diabetes. Traditionally, it is considered to be related to carotenemia, but it may also be associated with end-products of advanced glycation.

I’ve had this but not sure what it means. It always goes away on its own.

@A MyFibroTeam Member, it’s good that you are seeing your doctor......but he will probably tell you there is no cause for concern. Do you eat a lot of veggie, like carrots, sweet potatoes and winter squash? If yes, that’s a sign you have a diet rich in veggies full of the pigment carotene. Keep us posted on what the doctor says.

Hi everyone, thanks for your replies! The whites of my eyes are normal. I don't think I'm eating two much vitamin A and I have an appointment coming up I will inform the doctor.
