I had severe brain fog and was too scared to cook as i would leave the oven on. I took fish oil capsules. Started off on 500mg a day and worked up to 1000mg morning and night. Made a huge difference! My specialist recommended them. Now if the brain fog gets bad i take fish oil capsules. Helps so much!
Brain fog was one of my first problems. I was a scrub nurse and had to do stat C-sections, which means get the baby out NOW. I would come out of surgery and not be able to remember names of things or people. If you work in a stressful job, you might want to consider less hours, different duties or a different job. I've had fibromyalgia for a long time and yes it gets worse as time goes on. I can watch shows or movies months prior and when I watch again I don't remember names, characters or even what the show was about. It sucks and is so frustrating. It's like ground hog day lol.
BethanySmith, Any particular brand of fish oil. And did you have to continually take them, or when you stopped did the brain fog come back?
Unfortunately pain and brain fog are interlinked. Pain whether it be from fibromyalgia, migraines, etc will impact your cognitive abilities. I have a great memory in general and I've been severely impacted the past 10 years.
@A MyFibroTeam Member yes I had an MRI done in October of last year. They said I have a small cyst but it doesn't look like it's pressing on anything. Doc also said it looked like my pituitary gland was kinda flat. I'm just kinda waiting on what other tests they decide to do now. I have a sleep study on the 24th of this month, but that's it as far as I know.
