Why I am motivated

I want to participate in the beauty of life and not be a spectator from the sidelines. I want to walk in nature and feel its ethereal spirit.
I want to dance with my sweetheart and talk into the night. I want to once again express my creativity through my photography. I want to not wince when my grandchildren run up for a hug. I want to feel the glory of being the person I once was.

Members connected deeply over what motivates them to keep living fully despite chronic illness, with many expressing a desire to stay engaged with life's beauty, loved ones, and creative passions rather than simply existing in pain. Several members shared practical wisdom including the spoon theory for pacing activities, finding purpose through teaching or small daily accomplishments, and discovering that their essence remains intact even when physical abilities change. A recurring theme was the fierce determination to feel alive and useful through the pain, balanced with self-compassion and the acknowledgment that each person's journey with fibromyalgia is unique and deeply personal.

We all share a commonality in our illness, but each of us has our own pain. It is normal that we all compare our symptoms, our pain, but in truth, none of us can know what the other is feeling. Personally, I think each of you had a lovely way of communicating and that the communications you shared came from your hearts. We have to remember that Fibro has become a part of our life's journey. All we can do is make the best of it. Remember to laugh, it truly can save us. God bless you all.

I love the way you express yourself! This really moved me. Recently I've fallen in love with a composer, Max Richter whose music makes me feel some of the same things I felt when I was a performer. At first I thought his music reminded me of the passionate, lively, and sensual person I used to be, but then I was able to see that in spite of not being able to do those things that created those qualities, it was still all there. I'm still that person. I don't mean to gloss over your loss. You express it so powerfully and my heart aches for you. I just want to say we aren't less of a full rich human being because we are inactive.
