Members connected over lingering pain and muscle weakness following hip replacement surgery, with many sharing that fibromyalgia, scoliosis, and arthritis complicated their recovery and made traditional physical therapy insufficient or painful. Several members emphasized the importance of consistent but gentle exercise, water therapy, regular reevaluation by pain doctors, and advocating for comprehensive treatment that addresses all overlapping conditions rather than focusing on just one issue. A recurring theme was the frustration of never-ending pain management and the reality that with fibromyalgia, physical therapy and stretching may need to continue indefinitely to prevent worsening symptoms.

Well ask your pain doctor to evaluate all your pains. I hate that they ask about the "one thing" that bothers you the most. So when asked that, I answered and as the conversation continued, doc said something about well if it was that, then you'd have pain down the outside of your leg. I replied, "I do! But you asked for one thing...the worse thing! You wanna hear the full list?" And before he could interrupt I listed everything! That's what led to our total reevaluation, because somewhere in that dozen+ items of pain, he saw a connection. So make a list, worse pain at the top, and review it with your pain doc. Punched nerves can be dealt with. Scoliosis can be helped. Arthritis is limited, but there are some good pills that help...not completely, but help. Yes, I'm sick of PT too, but I've learned that when I stop, I pay for it.

Have you tried water therapy? I had a rotary cuff surgery over a year ago. I'm still doing PT for it. Because of the fibromyalgia and spinal arthritis, my PT said that I will have to do my PT exercises the rest of my life. How often are you doing your hip PT exercises?

Yes, but I have to be very careful with the exercises as it will cause extreme pain the next day. Did that once then learn to back off some. I was hoping it would work for. I’ll keep reading. πŸ’•πŸ’•πŸ’•

I did, for 10 weeks. Didn't help. I also have scoliosis and it aggravated that too. Did it help you?
