I finally got the chance to participate in a FM meet-up last week. I really enjoyed interacting with other FM patients who could understand me 100%. Honestly, I felt so much more comfortable being around them than anyone else, although I met them for the first time. I wish I could participate in this meet-up again, but unfortunately they only meet every Tuesday when I'm working. :-( Does anyone regularly participate in your local FM meet-up? If so, what's your experience with them?

Members responded enthusiastically to someone who attended their first fibromyalgia meetup, with many expressing how meaningful it is to connect with people who truly understand the daily challenges of living with FM, from struggling with simple tasks like showering to planning activities around flare-ups. Several members shared their experiences with local groups, including one in Phoenix that meets twice monthly and provides both emotional support and practical tips, while others described their efforts to start new groups in their areas despite slow progress and limited responses. A recurring theme was the universal desire for accessible, in-person connection, with members encouraging each other to keep trying, noting that even if attendance varies, the people who need it most will show up.

I attend one here on Phoenix. We meet on the first Sunday of the month and then again in the afternoon on the third Thurs. I really enjoy going. It is very helpful for me to talk to people who face the same issues. It really helps to talk to someone who understands how difficult it is to do simple things like go to the grocery store and take a shower. We share ideas about our condition and what helps us, but we also talk about other things like movies, books, etc. I plan to do just the meetings on those days, so I can make sure I get there.

Well, only one has showed interest and I'm thinking of asking her if she can meet. And will go from there. 😀

I know from attending the group I do that if you set it up, they will come. It may not be the same people every time but you will get one or two.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I have not met yet. I am trying to find people here, through the hospital and through the fibro organization( the nearest meetup I found through them was not local) but so far no bites anywhere. I will be reaching out to neurologists and rheumy in the area and see if they have an interest.

I have been adding people here and making friends and will send out a shout and see if anyone is interested or if they can meet.

But at the moment it is just me. LOL
