Members who experience restless legs syndrome connected over the frustrating and often misunderstood sensation that disrupts sleep and leaves bedding in disarray. Several members shared practical strategies that have brought them relief, including magnesium oil spray or pills, weighted blankets, topical lotions with peppermint or eucalyptus to improve circulation, avoiding sugar and caffeine near bedtime, and prescription medications like Requip. A recurring theme was how isolating and debilitating RLS can feel, with members describing the difficulty of explaining the sensation to those who haven't experienced it and the exhaustion that comes from sleepless nights.

I do. I have found that I cannot eat anything with sugar (natural or otherwise) close to bedtime. No caffeine, etc. If I am overly tired it is the worst! Sometimes, being anemic can contribute to this type of sensation (I'm a nurse), so be sure to ask your health provider about it. There are some medications that help, but what I have found that helps me very well is a lotion that includes several natural oils like peppermint, wintergreen, eucalyptus, etc.. However, if you tried something over-the-counter like those might help a lot. They increase circulation to the area. I have found that some of my pain is due to muscle spash that cuts down on circulation. I hope that is helpful.

I have RLS and I use Requip. It is a Parkinson's medication but it has been a miracle for me. I can't go without it as my legs are so bad. I have to take it about an hour before bedtime and it calms my legs. Ask your doctor about it as it has been so amazing to me.

Fortunately my RLS is very mild but I know it can be a debilitating condition. It must be horrendous on top of everything else. Hope you find relief soon. X

I'm exactly the same! It's a good thing I don't sleep with anyone. Cause I'm constantly moving!
