Hey everyone, I know that fatigue is a huge factor in fibro. I’m ALWAYS tired. However, how many of you also suffer from insomnia? Is that a big thing with fibro too? I’ve had it for a very long time. Every once in awhile it’ll kind of go away and during that time all I do is sleep. Doesn’t matter how long or what time of day. I am tired and will just crash.

Members connected over the conversation about insomnia in fibromyalgia, with many sharing that they struggle with both extreme fatigue and an inability to sleep, often getting only a few hours of rest per night despite feeling exhausted throughout the day. Several members shared strategies they've tried, including sleep medications like Ambien (though one noted challenging side effects), lavender essential oils for muscle relaxation, avoiding naps to improve nighttime sleep, and consulting sleep specialists or doctors familiar with fibromyalgia. A recurring theme was the frustrating cycle of being too tired to function yet unable to rest, with members offering solidarity, encouragement to seek specialized help, and the reminder to rest whenever the body calls for it.

Insomnia, sleep is such a needed part of life. Insomnia comes in many forms too. I’m one of those that can’t fall asleep, it’s been an issue for as long as I can remember. I sleep best between 2:00 am and 9:00 am, but if anything disrupts that pattern......

One night at a time, may God bless those of us with heavy fatigue and throbbing pain, this bliss of 8 hours of sleep.

OH SISTER!!!! I have been in the same boat for 13 years. Almost 14 years now. Since I was pregnant with our daughter. It's rough. I feel your pain. Lack of sleep can cause so many health problems. And makes the symptoms of fibromyalgia even worse.
But one thing that I have used is essential oils. Lavender is the one that relaxes you to where you can sleep. It helps me relax and actually helps my muscles to relax which is something that they never do. LOL
You can get it in the vitamin section at Walmart. This is the food grade one and you don't have to mix it with anything to be able to rub behind the ears and on the chest. The other kind is with the candles and this is something that you can just put it in an oil burner and it will make the whole room smell great and its relaxing. Its cheaper to do it this way. You get bigger bottles for a lot less dough. LOL
Hope this helps. Blessings and gentle hugs.

Hi Brittnee,
I too, have had insomnia. I have been diagnosed with chronic fatigue. I finally fall asleep for a good three or four hours, then wake up - usually from the pain. I feel tired all day - it drives me crazy. I do take a couple of sleep aids, but I do not find they really help. To answer you question Fatigue and insomnia are a part of fibro. I find that I wake early, do my routine, then hit the couch with a good book or my journal. I usually with fall asleep for a bit. I rest whenever my body calls for it.
Have you talked to your Dr.? If you have one that knows about fibro he should be able to help.
Take care

I actually saw my neurologist (I have Tourette’s Syndrome) and was so out of it he was concerned for me to drive home! He is a little drive from my house but my bff came with me to keep me going. He suggested (after telling me sleep issues are not his strong area) to see a sleep specialist. He gave me the number and name of a doctor he recommends and to see what they suggest I do once I see them. Still a far drive unfortunately but he didn’t know of anyone in my area and didn’t want to send me to someone he knew nothing about. So, I have an appointment scheduled for either the end of this month or sometime next. Hopefully, I get some relief! It’s 12:42 right now and I have to be up and to work at 9 am.
Thank you everyone for responding ❤️
