Does Anyone Else Have Chest Pains On A Regular Basis?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have had pains for the past two years. Its on both sides of my chest but primarily left and middle. It occurs many times daily and always freaks me out even though I have seen my doctor many times and had many tests run. All of which always come out negative for any heart issues. I also have pains in my back and at my elbow and knee joints. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in August 2018. Basically because they ruled out everything else.

I have chest pain, rib pain, upper back pain, under arm pain on regular basis. They started out with the chest pain, the type you describe than became more wide spread involving the areas I have mentioned. Maybe the progression of fibro. I have been living with this over 20 years. The chest pain especially scary because of course you always wonder if this is a hear problem. As LisaKilbourn says look into costohondritis diagnosis, very common with fibro, there is not a whole lot you can do about it. You can take ibuprofen, relax, warm bath and watch how you move, what you do so you won't trigger the inflammation and pain. Also, stress is a huge component of this type of pain. Glad your doctor ruled out heart issue.

Hi Lori I have pain on my left side of my chest too since last year like you I went to cardiology everything was fine with my heart, I also have pain on my left shoulder , I went to see my rheumatologist he sent me to physical therapy for a month it helps at that moment but the pain is back ( plus taking anti inflammatory medicines) them he send me to a specialist in shoulder, spine an (Orthpaedics) also he send me for spine MRI and a CT scan for my chest. The results on the Ct scan showed calcified Granulomas that’s a specific type of tissue Inflammation on the lungs the specialist doctor is going to do a procedure, looks scary but I will going to do it hopefully it takes the pain on my chest away the pain is so bad that went I do a deep breathing it hurts so much. Sorry that this is so long but I like to tell you that you are not the alone on this kind of pain I recommend you that if you continue with this pain ask your doctor or rheumatology to send you for a CT SCAN on your chest. But remember that doctors try first so many things before sent you to do a scan I guess is insurance issues. Well I hope I help you and give some ideas on what could be that you have but please check yourself with your Doctors is very important , so you find relief!

I have bouts of chest pain that feels like I'm having a heart attack. Have to consciously slow my breathing and relax. It is usually linked to stress and anxiety. I unfortunately have both. Another symptom to go with all the others. Could possibly be chondrochondritis. I think you spell it like that.

Very very interesting! I have all these symptoms. As a matter of fact, I am scheduled for a Cardo Petscan in March for the chest pain although I have had Fibro for 7 yrs! This chest pain and back pain, elbow and knee have been causing concern since November 2018. I been to the hospital twice thinking I was having a heart attack! Also suffering from Anxiety attacks daily, probably due to the chest pain concern.
