Members connected over shared experiences of pain in the front of the neck, jaw, and chin, with many describing sensations ranging from muscle tightness and TMJ popping to unusual stinging or pinching feelings in the mouth and tongue. Several members shared specific symptoms including tender point pain, difficulty stretching tight neck muscles, a sour or pinchy sensation in the mouth similar to eating a warhead candy, needle-like pricks on the tongue, and heightened sensitivity when swallowing. A recurring theme was the anxiety and self-consciousness these symptoms cause, with members finding relief in knowing others experience the same unusual sensations and grateful for the validation that they are not alone.

@A MyFibroTeam Member do you ever feel like you cant articulate. Not like slurring or anything like that but just like it's harder to make sure what comes out of your mouth sounds right? I find myself hyper focused on annunciation of works like Im afraid if I don't focus on it, I might sound weird...these mouth issues are really getting to me too! :(

Yes, this has been my complaint for the last month. It feels tight and even my mouth feels like I bit into something sour (like that pinchy feeling)

I haven't had that actually. Mostly the feeling of weakness or fainting when speaking. My mouth has done some weird stuff. I have had extra sensitivity to swallowing. Like it feels like a big rock going down my throat when I swallow. I think I swallow alright, but my sensitivity to the feeling of swallowing is amped up. So weird.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I have similar issues. Pain under my tongue and on the sides...feels more stinging though. It makes me very self conscious and I feel like I cannot articulate as well. My mouth also feels tired/jaw also. Trying to open my mouth wide causes pain in the jaw but I have tightness under the chin too. I also have some days where the back of my tongue feels like I have a hot pepper on it. No fun.
