Members responded to someone seeking natural remedies for leg edema while unable to afford medical care, with many expressing genuine concern about the importance of ruling out serious cardiac or kidney issues despite the financial barriers. Several members shared practical self-care strategies they use, including elevating legs on pillows, soaking feet in ice water with Epsom salt, drinking plenty of water while eliminating salt, wearing compression stockings, and massaging with ginger oil. A recurring theme was the tension between the urgent need for proper medical evaluation and the harsh reality of high deductibles and copays that prevent access to specialists, with members offering resourceful suggestions like sliding-fee clinics, Medicaid emergency coverage, and dietary changes while acknowledging how unjust it is that basic healthcare remains out of reach for so many.

I don't know your history but make sure you don't have an undiagnosed cardiac issue, heart failure in particular. That could be your only symtom, but also shortness of breath and exercise intolerance. Also, kidney issues. If all clear, then elevation and low sodium. If it happens at the end of the day, could try compression stockings too! I still use mine if I'm going to be on my feet all day.

Eat food the way it appears on the earth. I posted this to someone awhile ago but worth mentioning again. Think about how much of anything you would really eat if you had to make it from scratch (or raise it).
