Happy birthday! I do know there is now a DNA test available to help people determine which medications they metabolize best, at least for psychotropic drugs. I had a friend who took it as she was having difficulties finding a medication she did not react poorly too.

I've had the DNA test. It was for pain meds, folic acid, ADHD, and psychotropic drugs. There is a green category, which means the drugs will metabolize correctly for your body. A yellow category for medium metabolism, and a red category for drugs that you shouldn't take and will have adverse reactions. My counselor suggested it after I tried two different medications for depression and neither worked. Both drugs showed up in the yellow category. I'm about to start taking Trentellix, which is in my green category. I also showed low for folic acid metabolism. I had the results sent to my rheumatologist, which I will be seeing soon. I'm thinking he will raise my folic acid prescription.
