This past month i have had strange Rib pain. Its mostly on my left side, but sometimes will be on the right. The pain is under my breast and around my side under my arms. Sometimes my back, arm, and shoulder hurts with it. I can push on it and it feels bruised. Anyone else have this?

Members connected over the shared experience of rib pain in fibromyalgia, with many identifying it as costochondritis, an inflammation of the chest cartilage that can radiate across the chest, into the shoulders and arms, and create a bruised feeling when touched. Several members shared practical strategies that brought them relief, including anti-inflammatory medications, ibuprofen gel, ice packs, soft supportive bras (especially sports bras worn day and night), physical therapy, chiropractic care, acupuncture, and avoiding activities that trigger flares like lifting or reaching. A recurring theme was the initial fear and confusion when the pain first appeared, often mistaken for a heart attack, and the comfort found in learning it was a known fibromyalgia symptom that could be managed with the right combination of treatments and self-care.

Me. I have this. I’m getting treated for it
It’s the biggest muscle of your body, wrapping around and from neck to waist
Latissimus dorsi muscle
Google it
My rotator cuffs are sore too
I’m getting treated by physio and chiro and massage to that area. Relieved me greatly

Yes I agree with Lorraine14. I went to the er twice before they diagnosed me with costo..it is another symptom that we get with fibro. It is very painful when it flares up. I use ice and ibuprofen to help bring down the inflammation. I hope you feel better soon. Hugs

Yes all the time. I just noticed the other day when I read about someone else not being able to wear a bra because the feel of it just hurts that sometimes it really does! I get a lot of pain where you say yours is and right in the center where my sternum is. Heat and some people have suggested vapor rub for pain. Gentle hugs.

I have this exact thing. Was one of my first painful fibro symptoms when I first started with pain in 2017. I still have it. I go through periods where it bothers me and other times I don’t notice it. But I can touch my rib cage in multiple places including around shoulder blade and have that bruised feeling. Had multiple chest X-rays shows nothing. Nope you can find some relief.
