Members openly discussed the reality of living with constant fibromyalgia pain, with most sharing that complete relief is rare but pain can often be reduced from severe levels to more manageable ones through medications like oxycodone, amitriptylene for sleep, gentle stretching, hot baths with lavender, and aromatherapy massage. Several members described the emotional toll of accepting the disease and adjusting daily life, with one sharing how a mobility scooter transformed their ability to participate in family activities after initially resisting it out of denial. A recurring theme was the importance of finding what works personally through trial and error, being kind to yourself during the adjustment process, and recognizing that while fibromyalgia may not go away, small improvements in pain management and sleep can make life more livable.

Okay, I always say what works for one may not work for another but here is what gives me some relief! For pain, oxycodone is the only thing that helps!! I know I know, it’s an opiate but frankly if it takes my pain from a nine to a four every day, I’m taking it!!! For sleep, amitriptylene has been a life saver!!!! I was like everyone else and barely got any sleep at night for 10-12 years! Then I was told to mention amitriptylene to my doctor and I am forever thankful!! I usually fall asleep within an hour of taking it and sleep for at least six but more like eight hours EVERY night!! It’s worth a shot! Now I also believe, just my opinion, that we should all be on an anti-depressant cause let’s face it, this illness is brutal and only gets worse as time goes on! And let’s not forget the never ending list of symptoms that come along with this disease! Ugh!! Good luck everyone!!

Agree! Endep has been my sleep life saver. I also find that herbal sleeping tabs also work for me. I take 'Natures Own Complete Sleep Advanced'

@A MyFibroTeam Member denial is a totally normal reaction too this disease! It took me a good 2 and a half years of been almost house bound before I accepted that I had fibromyalgia. And that this ment somtimes I will not be able too do the things I used too. But I think the key is accepting that and not being so hard on your self xx

Getting the constant pain under control can be very difficult ! Too be honest I personally always have pain you just get better at managing it your self x you should try some complementary therapies like an aromatherapy massage really helps you get a good nights sleep. But then again it’s just finding what works for you personally x I still struggle a lot with sleep also, some nights I can get over with no problem then other nights I see every hour on the clock. It can get you down quite a bit but just make sure you are talkingtoo people about how you are feeling x
Try a hot bath with lavander before bed ensure your room is dark. Even try listening too som relaxing meditation music. Any thing is worth a try xx
Really hope you manage too get some good sleep x and some pain relief xx
