I am thinking of trying or asking my doctors about a wheelchair to use for outings. I get so extremely tired and sore after outings like grocery shopping doctors appointments etc. And sometimes my hips hurt so bad while in the store that i want to sit down right where i am and let everyone just walk around me. Of course my vanity won't let me do that ๐Ÿ˜‚ so i stand still for a couple of minutes grunt it out and push through. However then i am stuck on the couch for hours with severe pain. Iโ€ฆ read more

Members rallied around someone considering using a wheelchair for outings due to exhaustion and pain, with overwhelming support to prioritize comfort over vanity and let go of what others might think. Many members shared their own mobility aid toolkits, including lightweight walkers, transport wheelchairs, electric scooters, canes, and handicap placards, emphasizing that these tools prevent dangerous falls and preserve energy for the activities they love. A recurring theme was practical encouragement to start with what feels right, get a handicap placard from a cooperative doctor, and remember that using mobility aids is about self-care and safety, not giving up or lacking faith.

@A MyFibroTeam Member it was fairly simple to get the handicap placard. Printed form from the Motor Vehicle Division website, dr completed and signed and wrote the rx required. I took to motor vehicles and had the placard the same day. Has to be renewed every 3 years at least in my state. Good luck!

I use a cane on a daily basis. If a store has a scooter i use it. I do most of my groceries thru walmart online and just drive over to pick it up. I limit that to package stuff and go to kroeger to get frest fruit and veggies, cold cuts. aAs far as anything else, if i can buy it online and deliver it, I do it. I am done with fighting store crowds. people are just too rude sometimes and it ties up my day too much .

I think whatever works for you, go for it!!! We are all different and anything that would give you even a bit of relief or feel safer or more comfortable with, do it! To hell with whatever the public or family or anyone thinks! Itโ€™s hard to demand our brains to accept these changes and social acceptance of it but itโ€™s your life so live for you! Big hugs!!
