Met an occupational health doctor today who told me that i am not covered under the equality act 2010 unless ive had fibro for at least one year . How can this be true ?? Fibro isnt a curable illness !! He also said that over 80% of people report a dramatic improvement in their condition after 2 years of diagnosis . From what ive read and people ive spoken to , this is not the general consensus !

Members overwhelmingly rejected a doctor's claim that 80% of people see dramatic improvement within two years of fibromyalgia diagnosis, with many sharing they've lived with the condition for 10, 20, or even 30+ years without improvement and often experiencing worsening symptoms over time. Several members discussed the lengthy and difficult disability application process, with some waiting 2-4 years and needing to hire specialized attorneys after multiple denials, despite being wheelchair-bound or unable to work. A recurring theme was frustration with medical professionals and systems that minimize or misunderstand fibromyalgia's chronic, progressive nature, making it harder for patients to access needed support and validate their lived experiences.

I have never heard of anybody that has been cured of fibromyalgia in the six years ive suffered. In fact every case i have heard of or have studied has been progressive in nature and debilitating. A lot of people who thought they had fibro were misdiagnosed as doctors were so unsure of proper diagnosis they mistook other illnesses for fibro. Now they have found blood and dna markers identified diagnosis is quicker and more precise. There are lots of people giving advice on diets, therapy or alternative medication but everybody is different, what works for one may not work for a hundred others. Its still early days in terms of funded research into fibro and it is classed as a disability as soon as you have an official diagnosis.

I have had fibro for over ten years and it has progressively gotten worse over the years!! I know at one point my own gp said in the ODD case they are finding fibro runs it’s course then burns itself out! That is definitely not 80%, maybe 8%!! I wish this doctor would study this illness properly and write true reports, not bulls**t!! It makes us look bad if people we know read this book or article and expect us to improve like that and instead get worse! No wonder some doctors and people think it’s all in our heads with reports like this! Ugh!!!🤬🤬🤬
