Members connected over the frustrating cycle of IBS constipation followed by painful burning, sharing that many face similar struggles despite extensive testing and a rotating list of treatments. Several members described finding relief through dietary changes like gluten-free or low FODMAP diets, daily Miralax instead of harsh laxatives, high-dose probiotics, magnesium supplements, and specific foods like pineapple, aloe vera, bananas, and trail mix with dried berries. A recurring theme was the importance of tracking food and stress in a journal to identify personal triggers, managing hemorrhoids that worsen symptoms, and the reality that opioid pain medications complicate constipation even further.

I finally decided to go on gluten free diet. Avoiding wheat products especially. I do have difficulty with tapioca flour and buckwheat as well though and they don't have gluten. They are added to many gluten free foods. The IBS could be caused by something that you eat every day but don't realize it's causing you pain. I also use miralax every day, sometimes up to four times a day depending on symptoms. Regular laxatives make things worse.
Stress levels also have a great deal to do with IBS symptoms. Try keeping a journal for IBS symptoms noting foods you ate and stress levels that day. You will probably find a correlation. It may take a lot of trial and error but it's worth it.
Hugs to you!

I definitely dealt with IBS however I found my answer and hopefully it will help you! If you have a Costco nearby, they sell a mix of almonds, cashews, dried cranberries and blueberries and white yogurt chips (that taste just like chocolate) and it’s called Coastal Berry by Wildroots!! It keeps me going regularly and soft BM and although it seems expensive at $12 a bag, there really is a lot in the bag and you don’t need a lot!! I can definitely tell when I’ve run out and kick myself for not getting more in advance cause we all know how uncomfortable it is to be constipated! No stool softeners or anything needed and for me I can guarantee I’ll go within two days of taking it again!! I hope this helps some people!! Good luck!!

I consider myself lucky if I get to have a BM more than once a week.
