Members discussed whether chiropractic care triggers fibromyalgia flare-ups, with many sharing that traditional chiropractic adjustments can be too forceful and cause significant pain increases or even emergency-level episodes. Several members found relief by switching to gentler alternatives, including chiropractors who use drop tables and activators instead of twisting, osteopathic manipulative treatment, or therapeutic massage with practitioners who understand fibromyalgia's sensitivity. A recurring theme was the importance of finding providers who work gently and listen to the body's limits, as what helps one person may harm another, and many offered prayers and support for those facing difficult decisions about surgery or ongoing pain management.

I think chiropractic is too violent for fibro, I have a remedial massage therapist instead now. The sudden thumping and pushing/clicking from a chiro is just too much and too alarming for the body.

I had the same issues with my previous chiropractor. My new one is very gentle while still getting the adjustments done. I’ve noticed that I don’t flare up very often with her like I did with my previous one.

I've had fibro for 30 years and been to many chiro' s in that time. I used to have to wait 3 or 4 days in between adjustments because I'm always too sort a to touch right away. I just started with a new chiro to see if he can unpinch my nerves from herniatiated discs in my low back. I'm hoping he can help because my next step is surgery. I have been monday, wed and Fri for 3 weeks now and he has been able to adjust me every time. He uses a drop table and an activator which is the little clicky thing.
Lol. He does not twist me which apparently is too much for fibro. I am hurting a little more than normal but fibro does flare up a little from the adjustments. I think it is worth it if you find a good chiro. Good luck.
