I’ve had moments where I have done something and it made no sense. This is hard to explain in words. The other day I was in the car with a friend and he pulled up to the keypad to enter the gate code. I promptly unbuckled my seatbelt and opened the door to get out. He thought I was crazy and asked “where are you going?!” I’ve been really tired and stressed lately and thinking that may be why but I’ve done odd things before. Swerve to miss a banana peel in the road cause I might slip, light a cig… read more

Members shared deeply relatable stories about experiencing odd, automatic behaviors and brain fog, from unbuckling seatbelts at gate keypads to finding phones in freezers and wearing mismatched shoes. Several members attributed these moments to fibro fog, fatigue, sleep deprivation, stress, and medication side effects, with one member describing cognitive testing that revealed pseudo dementia from over multitasking, which led to a necessary job change. A recurring theme was the importance of self compassion and exploring practical solutions like fish oil supplements, melatonin for sleep, reducing stress, and consulting a neurologist when cognitive symptoms feel overwhelming.

Sleep deprivation sounds like.... try melatonin 30 minutes before bed sublingual...I use 10 mg but mostly cause I’ve taken it for sleep for 10 years +

I was a Social worker in health care. I just couldn't do it anymore. Stress, demands, fast pace. I was so overwhelmed I went out on leave and had a cognitive testing where I was told I had pseudo dementia due to over multitasking. I had to resign from that job and take something less demanding even though pay was half. It was the right choice.

Lots of ridiculous things for sure. Won't even share but worse forgetfulness and brain fog nonsense..to the point I wonder if it's early onset dementia. But--- could some big this be medication? I recently had my contacts increased and I think I've gotten stupider...and my pain is actually no better- maybe worse.....What do you think?

Sort of. There are times when i have locked my car doors cos i was scared i would go to open it while driving.
I think its something to do with the fibro fog. At one stage i almost had to stop cooking because i would do stupid things like touch something hot without oven mitts, leave the oven or elements on and burn things all the time. I would go to do something and people would look at me like "what are you doing?!?!".
Fish Oil has been my saving grace!!!! Now on 4000mg a day and now I don't do so many stupid things!!! 😉
