I recently posted about an upcoming procedure that I'm having on May 8th however my bloodwork came back. Everything was good except for a C marker reactive protein which was elevated. I understand it's caused from inflammatory response caused from something. Has anyone had this and what does it actually mean and involve?
Yes the C Marker is for most of use is <5 anything upwards of about 30ish is you being sick with an infection above that like 100s then you have a autoimmune condition like RA. How do I know because this is how it happened for me. My C maker was so high but I was not sick (Just the fibro) Dr couldn't work it out. lasted for months. Turns out I have RA and Gout which in turn feeds my Fibro. Fibro is not suppose to cause inflammation but I am not so sure.
Inflammatory responses happen to every one, every day. Could be a bug you are fighting off, which we all do, nearly all the time.. you don't have to feel sick... There are no signs or symptoms that are specific for an elevated C-reactive protein level, because it is not a specific test. Signs or symptoms, if present, would depend on the underlying inflammatory condition that is the cause of the elevated CRP level.
The traditional CRP measurement is often used to detect inflammation in the body. Your health-care provider may order a C-reactive protein level to check for flare-ups of inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, or vasculitis or to monitor whether anti-inflammatory medications are working to treat a disease or condition.
Because measuring CRP levels at any point in time may be influenced by any infection or inflammation in the body, onetime measurement is generally not regarded as an adequate predictor of cardiovascular risk. Therefore, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends checking two separate CRP levels approximately two weeks apart and using the average number of the two readings for cardiovascular risk assessment and screening purposes.
Without any other unusual results.. it's probably nothing.
Mine has been elevated for over a year. If you are in a flare up the higher your number will be. Typically they will perform the surgery even though that is high.
I had a neurologist about years ago tell me that I probably have fibromyalgia. I haven’t followed up on his diagnosis. I have a lot of issues including sciatica. I hurt in my legs and my ribs all the way around to my back. I have tremors and spasms so hard that it hurts. I can’t tell you how many times I have jerked so hard I threw my drink against the wall. I know it is not as common for men to have fibromyalgia. Trying to figure out what kind of doctor to go see. A
