Members shared their experiences with frequent illnesses and prolonged recovery times when living with fibromyalgia, with many describing how they catch every cold or virus going around and take much longer than others to heal from infections or injuries. Several members pointed out the connection between fibromyalgia and immune function, noting that while fibromyalgia doesn't directly cause immune problems, the same underlying factors can affect both, and some members manage specific immune conditions like cyclical neutropenia alongside their fibromyalgia. A recurring theme was the frustration of becoming ill after rare outings or enjoyable activities, balanced by solidarity and practical strategies like improving diet, taking vitamin C and herbal supplements, and giving themselves grace to rest and recover at their own pace.

I have cyclical neutropaenia ( white cells that fight infection) which affect immunity
My neutrophils go up to above normal and then slowly drop to below normal then they climb again.
When they are low I catch everything flying by and it takes ages to shake it off
I have dramatically improved my diet and have not been ill for a long time.

Our family just went through a round of brutal flu!!! My grandson was sick one night. Then I had it Sat morning then also Mon, Tues and Thurs!! My daughter and other grandson only had it Sun and my husband just had it Friday. I figured it took me longer to get over it because of my fibro. Also, I got a bad rope burn on my legs five weeks and three days ago and they are finally healing!! I’m sure any normal person, it would have been cleared up two weeks ago at the most but us lucky fibro warriors really need more pain added to our bodies for a longer period than everyone else! Lol

While fibromyalgia does not “cause” an impaired immune system, it's clear to see how they relate to each other. The same factors that create an impaired immune system can also open the door to health challenges such as fibromyalgia, autoimmune concerns, and chronic disease.
The symptoms of fibromyalgia can mimic those of common autoimmune disorders. ... However, sometimes the immune system develops a glitch and attacks healthy tissue.
