Members widely confirmed experiencing lowered immunity with fibromyalgia, sharing that they frequently catch colds, flu, and infections that often escalate into sinus infections, bronchitis, or pneumonia requiring multiple rounds of medication and extended recovery time. Several members described practical strategies that helped strengthen their immune systems, including working from home to reduce exposure, taking elderberry syrup, vitamin D3, and B12 supplements, requesting blood work to check antibody and vitamin levels, and wearing masks in public spaces. A recurring theme was the connection between fibromyalgia and chronic immune activation, with some members also managing related conditions like Epstein-Barr virus, thyroid issues, anemia, and rheumatoid arthritis, all of which can further compromise the body's ability to fight off illness.

Yes for sure-that is one of the characteristics of fibro-that is why they say not to get a flu shot.

I have built up my immune system with vitamins and supplements. I was not sick once this year until allergy season but I still did not need to make a trip to the dr. My kids made it thru the whole winter without being sick. Elderberry syrup, vitamin D3, vitamin B12 all build your immune system up.

@A MyFibroTeam Member,Oh yes! I got three bleeding ulcers, to which I've had to change my diet drastically. I have mouth ulcers and apththous ulcers, which never go away. They are so sore that it hurts to eat. And I have maxillary problems, jaw hurts, bones around eye hurts, around ear soreness, chin hurts, teeth hurt, gingivitis, teeth loose, dry eyes, wet maxillary degeneration, scalp itches, sore, nose plugged up. It's all there. You name it, I have it. I have just finally found a pain doctor that has changed my life! My other pain doctors were complaining if I took more than 1 Xanax a day. He prescribed me Clonazepam three times a day and it has changed my life.
everything seems to be on an even keel now. No up and down, up and down. He also took me off opioids and put me on benzonephrene, under tongue, 8 mg every 8 hours; 24 mg a day. I hardly have any pain. I am even helping get the yard ready for planting, cleaning out the greenhouse, exercising, taking walks. I feel the best I have felt in 15 years!!!!! Them letting me go because I didn't follow protocol by taking more than 1 Xanax a day (when I was having panic attacks!) was the best thing they ever did!!!!
