Does anyone else have issues with not being able to get up and do chores or anything? My mind wants to do all the things I need to do, but my body just wont cooperate. I get so tired so quickly and I am afraid of the pain that comes after doing things. I also break out in sweats and overheat. I feel SO guilty as my home is so cluttered and needs cleaned. I just cant do what I used to and what I do takes forever. I also find myself getting really nervous when I take on a task. I just dont… read more

Members deeply related to the struggle of wanting to accomplish tasks but lacking the physical energy and strength to follow through, with many describing the same pattern of overheating, sweating, and exhaustion even from simple chores. Several members shared practical strategies that have helped them cope, including pacing themselves by doing small tasks with frequent rest breaks, making lists to feel a sense of accomplishment when crossing items off, reframing expectations around what counts as success, hiring help when possible, and reminding themselves that nobody died from a dusty house. A recurring theme was the emotional weight of adjusting to new limitations after decades of working and being active, the importance of self-compassion and not pushing too hard, and the reassurance that this frustration and guilt are normal parts of living with fibromyalgia.

You are SO not alone. I had to leave my job 8 months ago because of Fibro, namely fatigue, weakness, Fibro. My since then, things have not improved one bit. I am always fatigued. Gave up on doing chores long ago. When i try to do even a simple task, I break out in a sweat and feel like im overheating.
Its a whole new life I'm living now and am still trying to accept it and adjust.
All we can do is try to make the best of what we have. I know it is not easy. I wish you better days, and hopefully some that find you with energy and joy!

I've suffered with FM since 1998. It definitely throws your life into turmoil. I suffer from anxiety and depression as well, so while I'd really rather just hide in my bedroom all day, I know it's not good for me. I try to do something everyday.....no matter how small. I do pay someone to clean my house. I take care of personal hygiene, laundry, doctors appointments, paying bills, running easy errands, and simple food prep....it makes me feel a sense of accomplishment. It's a struggle to find the strength, and some days I just take care of me and I'm happy. Don't push too hard.

I really struggle with doing jobs at home, and even at work I seem to be behind everyone else in what I can do. It's really hard to explain to my family that if I have to sleep, I have to sleep, and I'm going to go to sleep where-ever i am anyway (I've even had to stop driving and sleep in the car in a Motorway service station)..

I also have the hot thing going on, sometimes useful in a cold office, but less good in a meeting!

I've managed to re-frame what I can do into 'I'll do the best I can, with what I have' - it's not your fault you have FM. Concentrate on what you can do, not what you can't do. Nobody died from a dusty house (as far as I know anyway).

@A MyFibroTeam Member. You are definitely not alone. I had to leave my job a year in a half now. I am also fighting to get disability. Had to get off most of medication. It took me about 6 months to feel different from being off meds. Then half to deal with the pain. Then there is weather issues that cause us to have horrible days. I am still struggling, but found if I pace myself, do a little rest awhile then maybe a little more. I can get somethings done. I try not to take the meds. That I do take everyday unless I have to. Seems to work a bit better. Now I do a light exercise, maybe a 15 min. Walk. I take very hot shower. Rest. Then I do a little house work. Rest a bit more. Then I cook dinner for hubby. Sometimes I have to clean up the next day sometimes not. Rest some more then bed. You have to find what works for you. They tell you to stay active. It's hard but also is true. At least for me. I did find that out. I'll push myself everyday with the routine that I have. When the days come that I can't I don't. Find what's best for you. Pace yourself . Hope I helped a little. Sending you mucho hugs and prayers
