As per a few above, definitely sounds like costochondritis to me. For me it usually starts with a dull pinching feeling in the middle of my spine, if i don’t cotton on to what that feeling is soon enough, it spreads like its wrapping vice like arms around my rib cage until i have pain all around my torso and in my sternum, and by that point i feel like i cant catch my breath. It’s apparently caused by the intercostal spaces (muscles and tissue webbing between the ribs) cramping, i would assume based on where it starts for me that it is triggered by the cluster of nerves near the spine firing. I have found that lying on a heat bag over the point in the spine and then laying a second heat bag over my sternum is the only way to stop an attack. I’ve also recently found that Copaiba essential oil ribbed into the spine and other spots can give some relief.
I do get a sudden "pinching" on one side of spine, ususally in thoracic area. It stays pinched for usually a week. happens if I'm just sitting ????? have one now!, right side. hurts to breathe in.

Yes, it think it might be costiochonstritis. I get the chest pains and heart palpitations. Please go see your doc to rule out anything else.
All the time I first thought it was my anxiety until it woke me up out of my sleep screaming
