Members shared their most relied-upon strategies for managing fibromyalgia flare days, with heat therapy emerging as the overwhelming favorite in forms like heating pads, hot baths with Epsom salts, hot showers, and TENS machines. Several members described their medication approaches, including pain relievers like hydrocodone and ibuprofen, nerve pain medications like gabapentin and Lyrica, and Cymbalta, though many noted challenging side effects such as significant weight gain, fatigue, and difficult withdrawal symptoms. A recurring theme was the importance of rest, staying in bed when needed, using techniques like starfishing to relax all muscles, seeking support through prayer and community connection, and never giving up despite the daily challenges.

I starfish. Lay in bed, no pillow, arms and legs
Spread to position where no muscle is used. I call it “starfishing”. Sometimes with headphones listening to asmr’s or affirmations

Bath with lots of Epsom salts in, take magnesium malate and to get lots of sleep. If necessary take melatonin to help that along.
