Is Sharp, Stabbing Pains A Symptom Of Fibromyalgia?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was just diagnosed last week. In addition to my other symptoms, i get sharp pains, like pins poking me all over like I'm a voodoo doll. It's excruciatingly painful. Is that also a symptom?

Yes it is a symptom. I get sharp shooting pains all over my body. They seem to come out of nowhere. Sometimes they are lije pins and needles, other times they are sharp. Sorry for the bad news. Fibro has so many weird symptoms that you will probably always find a new one. I have had it 30 years and still have different pains and other symptoms that i did not know were fibro. Welcome to the wonderful world of fibro. Hugs

It could be the Trigger Points being aggravated! You have BI-lateral knots on your soft tissue... that is the fifinative test of Fibro.. being Bilateral. The practitioner rubbed the knot.. I about flew off her exam Table!!! Oh... she knew my Dx. Quickly!!

Yes, I get these stabbing, sharp pains especially in my rib cage, randomly. Sometimes they are very very painful unexpected jabs, I am afraid to be in public because just like you said I feel like a woodoo doll being invisibly tormented and at times my body jerks from the pain. I got Clonazepam 0.5 mg to take if the pain becomes intolerable, also tried Cyclobenzaprin 5 mg at night (these medications seem to help me with these types of pain). I really don't like taking medications only my last resort. You can try warm bath to relax perhaps if your doctor agrees.

You're welcome @A MyFibroTeam Member. What u said about being able to compare symptoms is so true. With the symptoms of fibro being so wide spread. And so systemic. You just never know how many things in our body it affects. Its brutal. Voodoo doll time most days. Happy Holidays dear. Gentle hugs.

I call them nails instead of pins because the pains are so bad.
