Members responded to a question about whether head trauma or accidents preceded their fibromyalgia, with many sharing powerful stories of car accidents, serious falls, surgeries, and concussions that seemed to trigger or worsen their symptoms. Several members described a pattern where fibromyalgia appeared or intensified after physical trauma such as landing on concrete, spinal injuries, or even childhood head injuries, with one member proposing the theory that everyone may carry fibromyalgia but it takes a traumatic event to activate it. A recurring theme was the belief that accumulated physical and emotional trauma eventually takes a toll on the body, with members finding strength and solidarity in sharing their journeys and supporting one another through the challenges of living with chronic pain.

Yes I fell maybe 20feet. Broke vertebrae was paralyzed for a time. Much surgury. Much PT. Also when I fell I had an undiagnosed head injury. I was able to fight back for a time but the fibro. got me. That was 23years ago this past January. I've been in pain ever since. At this point every system but liver and pancreas have been involved. However I usually have a good outlook or try to. I figure things certainly can always be worse. And that Is True!

I fell head onto the cement. Later i found out i had a concussion. I fell on my tail bone at the skating rink. Also i've been in one serious car accident. My head went into the windshield but didn't break the glass. I was in 2 other car accidents. I heard there is a theory that brain and spinal injury can be the cause of fibro. I don't know😏

I did in fact suffer a very bad car accident in 1994..then had major surgery in 2006 and then 2012 lost my father and then 2016 lost my little dog..so for me i truly believe after anyo ne has suffered traumas in life it eventually takes toll in the body..i was diagnosed in December 2016 and that was after 3 years of progressively getting worse

Interesting Idea @A MyFibroTeam Member about how we all have FM, but it takes a trauma to initiate the FMS symptoms. My FM came after my 3rd time accident going over 65 mph. And yes, head trauma was involved. I am sorry to hear of your accident. I can remember though as a child always having headaches... My mom recalls the doctor who pulled her aside and asked her if she thought I was making up the complaint of head pain when I was in early elementary school. I think I personally DID carry the FM gene since being very young... My aunt had muscle myalgia years ago. Interesting ideas you have. Wishing you the best.

Lots of low impact car accidents. Read Anatomy of an Injury. My doctor wrote it.
