Acupuncture
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone tried acupuncture? I went for a treatment yesterday and now have large bumps were the needles were and had a painful experience. Does it end up helping if I continue it?

Acupuncture gave me my life back. Almost feel normal!! It never hurt and I never had bruises. I fly to see an acupuncturist in Phoenix twice a year. Find one that knows what fibromyalgia is and has treated it successfully many times. Not all acupuncturist are created the same

If you go for acupuncture and you have a bad experience - it doesn't mean that it's not for you or your body is fighting it. Not all acupuncturists are skilled the same, some have better skill level than others. It helped me for the first time in over 10 years I felt hope again. I had started hurting all over, not being able to sleep well and severe spasms in my neck, shoulders and back. I was going 3 times a week and for 3 years by then I was doing better, I was feeling Human again and then my acupuncturist decided to get divorced and move back to Charlotte NC. If any of you live in that area - I highly recommend Dr Jeffrey Carlisle. He's at Nova Chiropractic. He sold the practice to another Dr in ILLINOIS and he's been treating me since but then results are not the same. I feel some benefit but not as much. Try a different acupuncturist before deciding if it works for you or not.

@A MyFibroTeam Member..... I had 4 treatments of acupuncture several months ago and I found it very painful😩. I also had some bruising at puncture points and didn't find the treatments useful at all. I was sure hoping it would work though! It may help you as it works for some and not others. Good luck😊. Hope you find some pain relief

Gentle Massage w/ a licensed EXPERIENCED therapist.
Get someone who does lymphatic drainage, so that all your toxins are released.
Go twice weekly or as therapist recommends.

Phone your acupuncturist and describe your outcome. Maybe he needs to be more gentle, use cupping, or maybe, you might consider a different acupuncturist, altogether.

Before any appt., acupuncture massage, chiro., ask what you can expect after the first visit, etc. How soon might you start feeling relief. Will their be pain, during and after?

Always look into their backgrounds before making Appts. References are always good.

Take succinct notes w you re: your health, meds, and any recent. cd of MRI, CT, and/ or the respective Reports.

This helps them know Exactly what's going on, rather, than having to figure it out.
Also, so that they can accommodate their teqnique to you and your pain.

Prior to any appt., breathe into your pain, relax, lightly stretch, take a good hot bath and wear comfortable, loose sweats so that your body is warm, and prepped. Makes a big difference!!!
My BEST,
LET

I tried acupuncture for 6 weeks this last spring. For me it was always painful and left me with large bruises. I didn't find it relaxing or helpful! But I now do gentle massage therapy and that's helped with my body tension and some of the pain! Blessings to you as you try to find what's best for you!!!
