I have the diagnosis chronic back ache, due to inability to move and being bedridden.
I have a special symptom of which im not sure if it is my fibro or rsd. It feels like thete is an iron bar just above my hips. It hurts like crazy. Some time ago i almost fell between my bed and the closet next to it and tore a back muscle. So rsd could be the cause, or not capable of healing well enough or fibro.
Anyone else with this problem?

Members connected over the complex challenge of chronic back pain layered with fibromyalgia, arthritis, and degenerative disc disease, with many describing how fibromyalgia amplifies pain from other conditions and slows healing. Several members shared practical relief strategies, including using a tennis ball to massage the sciatic nerve from hip to knee, alternating heat and ice packs, considering physical therapy or yoga, and seeking imaging like MRIs to rule out disc problems or spinal stenosis. A recurring theme was the importance of finding compassionate medical care that takes fibromyalgia seriously, as some members faced doctors who dismissed their conditions, while others emphasized that managing multiple pain sources requires a good doctor or pain clinic and a strong support system.

Diane Hearty, you might want to get an MRI. You might have spinal stenosis or a disc problem. Don't let it get worse, there's relief to be had. God Bless

I also have lower back pain. I was diagnosed with degenerative disk disease several years ago, and just this year, a x-ray showed that I had it in my upper back as well. Last August (2016) I injured my back and got a herniated disk, which was excruciating. I had very bad sciatica that hadn't let up until about a month or so ago. I believe that when you have fibromyalgia, any other diagnosis that includes pain just makes it that much more difficult. We are extra-sensitive to pain and I believe it may take us longer to heal depending upon the severity of our illness. First, there is the back pain that comes with the fibromyalgia, then if you have any spinal problems on top of that, well, it's a double whammy - American speak for having a trouble layered upon top of another trouble. Anyone going through these things should get the best help they can to manage their pain from a good doctor or a pain clinic.

Thanks for the help! My gp doesnt believe my fibro or rsd is an existing disease so she wont cooperate with bloodwork...... Besides that it is always a risk to get bloodwork done because it can cause a bad flare up with losing even more moving capabilities than i already have, so im trying to avoid that. Gp has been talking about physiotherapy but i wont do that right now. Once we are moved to a new apartment with nursinghome care and physio is in the building and come to you, i will consider it again. But for now decline.

Hi MaryLou51 I have a very painful low back muscle pain constantly. I do have problems in L5/S1 but what I've been feeling is a pinching pain (very painful) above the buttocks left side around to the fleshy part of the hip. I don't know if you can relate to that region It's hard to translate the area into words! My Dr gave me a script for phys therapy but I'll bet yoga would be better for me & I would save $30/visit. I hope you feel betterโฃ๏ธ๐ŸŒบ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿ€๐ŸŽˆ
