Just reading someones post brought a question to mind.....I remember being a kid into my teen years that my mom had to rub my legs and we were always told it was "growing pains" I think it was Fibro....nobody back then knew anything about it!
@A MyFibroTeam Member I think that most of us with Fibro would agree that we have a high tolerance for pain because it is never ending and we just learn to "deal" with it....who agrees with me??
I never had pains like that when I was a kid but I always did have a higher pain tolerance so it might be something I didn't notice. I was a tomboy and always bruised up from doing crazy tricks on my bike. I did feel a restlessness in my legs and if I stayed in bed or sitting down too long I felt like I had to get up and move around. I have RLS. My younger son has complained of pain in his legs since he was really young. I wonder if he will end up having fibro. So far the doctors have not found a reason for it. He's 20 now.
I, too, had those. In my teen years I suffered from mysterious pains in different regions of my back (not on my spine), but in certain muscle groups that would last for several months then go away. I was very secretive because I had been molested as a child (by strangers). I never disclosed any of these things to my parents and suffered in silence. When I look back on all this I think I had a predisposition to fibromyalgia, but I don't think I'll ever meet a doctor or scientist who will ever agree with me.
Growing pains are different than fibro. My son literally had growing pains the summer before he turned 13. They were so bad I thought something horrible was happening. The doctor explained that my son was growing so quickly that he could actually feel his leg bones stretching. My son grew 12 inches that summer. It was the worst summer, he was hurting and there was nothing I could do to make it go away.
Yes, I do believe we used up a lot of our energy when we were running around doing what we did.
In my case, it was being a care giver to my daughter and her advocate, just used up a lot of my juice.
I just thought that the energy would continue forever. lol.
