I've Been Finding Painful Lumps In My Arms.
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was awake a lot of the night feeling my forearms - not sure why I started doing it, but I began to find painful lumps. Does anyone else have this issue?

Lipomas are what my dr calls them. I have them all over my body. Mostly arms , back and legs and stomach.

Yes! I have lumps on both forearms and have not been told why they are there. This was the final straw before I went on long term disability. My arms were aching constantly and I was waking up with both pain, tingling and numbness in both hands. Thus has improved but the lumps remained after not typing all day long. Wish I could see a professional who could explain and suggest treatment. The chiropractor used shockwave last week and that seemed to flatten and loosen them some. Nice to know I am not alone...

I have horrible lumps on my bicep on my left arm ( upper outside of the arm) Apparently they are Lipomas ( fatty benign tumors and usually painless ) and with they are very painful. Yes they are odd, the whole Fibromyalgia situation is very odd. How many members have suffered panic or anxiety at any point in their life ? I tend to believe there is a strong connection and that both are directly related to an exceptionally sensitive nervous system. This doesn’t mean you are a basket case, quite the contrary. Sufferers actually can endure more stress than the average person and basically your brain says “ enough “ and manifests it’s dislike for what is happening with physical pain. When the sufferer continues to ignore perhaps the “real root “ of the problem ...the body is told by the brain to react ! Overtime the Nervous System becomes very sensitive, that would be to temperatures, humidity, sound, lights( optic nerve) and most importantly “ pain receptors “, muscles contract on and on and on.

They are lipoma’s. I have them all over my body not just my arms. They are also called fatty tissue tumors. One doctor told me that they can’t hurt. I told him all mine do at times.

I find small ( less than 1 inch) knots in my upper arms and thighs. My physical therapist told me she could always tell a fibro patient even if they came in for a broken ankle, because of these. I’ve researched and believe, for me, it’s a collection of toxins( waste byproducts of cellular metabolism) trapped in a blocked myofascium. The fascia is a thin membrane that holds muscle groups together. If you’ve cleaned a chicken, you’re familiar with the tissue thin milky white membrane. A technique called myofascial release done by a massage therapist affords temporary relief. Can’t afford that. I will do self massage to them if they hurt a lot. I have to be Careful not to work the area too much, or it’ll be sore the next day. There are books and You Tube videos on this topic. Just my own experience.
