Has Anyone Heard Of A New Study About Medications?
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

My new PCP told me that there was a recent huge study done that showed that ALL medications for Fibromyalgia DON'T work...this doesn't sound right to me.

I've been on @Savella for years, and I have only recently felt that it wasn't working as well, which is why I asked to be referred to a Rheumatologist, but she said all they would tell me is to modify my diet & @exercise!!!

I've also tried Lyrica, and had a massive allergic reaction to it, and I take Gabapentin for other conditions...

I have learned through my journey with thus disease that you have to be your own advocate and keep pushing until they listen.

I don't know if this helps but I've read several studies saying how bad Lyrica & Gabapentin is for patients. They were originally used as anti-seizure meds but later found that it could help nerve pain conditions. I don't know if this is what she is referring to but that's the only study that I've seen. I hope this is helpful.

I can't take Lyrica or Cymbalta. I was on Savella and it worked so well, but my insurance won't pay for it now..

I would ask to be referred to a rheumy again. Mine is the one who has put me on various meds. We try different meds and different dosages. He works with me to find what works best. Also he is the one who deals with my other conditions, osteoarthritis, pseudogout. Often the other diseases many of us suffer from are managed by rheumy. I don't like the fact that she won't refer you and can't remember the name of the study.
